What would a 3-year old invest in?

Me: "Hey, you little man, who do you want to be when you grow up?"
Him: "A truck driver!"
Me: "A truck driver? But, when you grow up there won't be any truck drivers! The trucks will drive all by themselves!"
Him: "Oh, Okay! so, I just sit in the truck and let the robots move?"
Me: "Yep! That's what you will be doing, you lucky man."

This was my 3-year old nephew and I spending an afternoon together. While I was chatting with him, I was wondering how lucky the kids are. They will grow up to experience life the way we can only imagine now. For a moment I thought how much I wanted to be 3 years old, instead of being in my thirties. But, there is another way for me to experience the life of future. By investing in the companies that are shaping the future of humanity I can get to be a part of the future as I can imagine. This week I'm sharing with you three stocks that I've been watching and investing in my nephew's portfolio.

There are several private and public companies that are focusing on the future of transportation, ranging from Ford and GM to Mercedez Benz and many others who are working hard to have a say in the shaping of the future. Investing in many of such companies will be a speculative bet. No one can predict when such futuristic vision may get materialized in our day to day life. For us - the intelligent investors - it is only wise to pick the companies that, if their autonomous aspiration does not pan out, are still well-operated and benefit from a growing market. As a wise man once said, even the best of investors need to leave room for safety in their investment decisions. 

• Nvidia: Nvidia is building the semiconductors and chips that power the brains of the autonomous cars of the future.
• Alphabet: Through its Waymo division, Alphabet is leading the change to bring autonomous cars to the mass public.
• Intel: Through the acquisition of Mobileye, Intel now owns the technology that makes your car see and sense its environment better.

Having that in mind, these companies are a few trailblazers that are shaping the future of transportation, the way my nephew is imagining it and are still well-operated companies that can be trusted with our money even if the autonomous cars do not roll-out anytime soon. By the time, my nephew comes to an age that he can legally take over his portfolio, these trailblazers will be harvesting the results of their today's aggressive push to shape the future.
